About the webinar

COVID-19 is an unprecedented global pandemic that has shifted health education work away from other health priorities even as those health priorities continue to impact the public. InSOPHE members have expressed a desire to gain additional knowledge and skills on how to address these priorities in new ways as medical, health, and social services have had to change how they deliver and/or offer services. Additionally, health educators need additional skills and resources on how to communicate other health priorities while not taking the priority away from the pandemic.

Speaker Info:

Kate Hill-Johnson, MA

Kate has nearly 20 years of public health and health education experience, most recently working as the Administrative Director of Community Health Improvement with Franciscan Health Alliance, where she is currently developing strategies to maintain focus on health issues outside COVID-19 within the hospital and community settings.

Objectives:

  • By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to identify when health education priorities can shift from COVID-19 to other health priorities.
  • By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to describe strategies for conducting health education work, such as program implementation and advocacy, around other health priorities, such as chronic disease management, during the pandemic.
  • By the end of the webinar, participants will recognize factors that affect communication and engagement with their target audience(s) and examine strategies and methods to foster effective communication and messaging.

An application has been submitted for 1.0 Entry-level Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECH) for CHES/MCHES individuals through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. (NCHEC).  InSOPHE Members receive FREE CECH from InSOPHE-sponsored events.  Non-members may claim CECH for a small fee at registration.
