This Just In: Emerging Trends and Research in Cervical Cancer and HPV Vaccination
The Indiana Cancer Consortium (ICC) Early Detection Committee is hosting the first This Just In presentation for all ICC members, partner organizations, and all other practitioners/researchers interested in the topic. This event will take place on Thursday, January 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Campus Center (420 University Boulevard, Indianapolis, 46202). A webcast option will be available for our friends around the state who would prefer to tune in remotely!

The first This Just In session will focus on "Emerging Trends and Research in Cervical Cancer and the HPV Vaccination. The ICC, along with national, state, and local partners, are dedicated to increasing HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening rates in Indiana as cancer of the cervix is both highly preventable as well as highly treatable if found early.
To support this presentation and webcast, the ICC will partner with the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center. Event attendees will learn about:
The HPV natural history and epidemiology.
HPV vaccination updates, including the latest research and potential benefit of a nano-valent vaccine.
HPV vaccine acceptability.
HPV DNA detection as a the potential primary screening for cervical cancer.
Documentary Screening: For those in-person attendees, we will be showing the Someone You Love: The HPV Epidemic. (website) This documentary features the story of Indiana-native Kristen Forbes. Learn more about Kristen Forbes.

This Just In is a newly announced, regular discussion series from the Indiana Cancer Consortium (ICC). This Just In presentations will cover the latest in cancer research with experts from around the state. The series is geared for researchers, practitioners, advocates, decision-makers, and the general ICC membership. It is a primary goal for the ICC to inform its membership with the latest in cancer trends, research, and science, so that ICC partners are better able to improve cancer prevention, care, and control outcomes around the Hoosier state.
